Episode #1 of our new sideshow – INFOtration. In this smaller format we will cover a variety of themes from all the abandoned locations we visited so far, with the focus being on facts, interesting trivia and stories surrounding the location. In this episode we are talking about the Buzludzha monument in Bulgaria. The monument commemorates a group of socialists led by Dimitar Blagoev that had a secret meeting on the peak in 1891. They envisioned Bulgaria’s socialist future and founded the Bulgarian Social Democratic Party, which eventually grew into the Bulgarian Communist Party. The monument was opened at the height of Soviet influence in 1981.
